Dr Suzi Lomax BM (Hons) BSc (Hons) FRCA PGCert (Dist)
Suzi is a consultant anaesthetist at the Royal Surrey County Hospital Guildford where she has until recently been trust lead for simulation for the last 8 years. During her anaesthetic training in Bristol and Oxford, she gained an interest in human factors and patient safety, leading her to complete a PGCert in Patient Safety and Clinical Risk Management at Leeds University.
Using her experience and skills she has been responsible for setting up the simulation service at the Royal Surrey County Hospital delivering over 18 multidisciplinary simulation programmes. Suzi is responsible for developing the KSS deanery wide multidisciplinary multicentre simulation faculty training programme, TEACHSimFaculty, and in the just the last 3 years has been responsible for delivering non technical skill training to over 1500 health care professionals locally, regionally and nationally.
As a SCReaM co-founder with Dr Wendy King, Consultant Anaesthetist, she has led the concept, design and delivery of SCReaM, a safety initiative across all theatres in 2 trusts in collaboration with the university to improve patient safety and team performance, and been responsible for the human factor training of over 300 permanent theatre team members made up of consultant surgeons, anaesthetists, scrub nurses, ODPs, and midwives. She has delivered high fidelity simulation training to over 25 theatre teams and been responsible for the first UK emergency prompt cards for use in emergencies in theatres.
Having trained on both sides of the Atlantic, she has merged best practice in these innovations, gaining the interest and recognition of other UK trusts and leaders in the patient safety field such as Martin Bromiley, and presented at local, national and international level including radio and national television.

Jenny Sutcliffe, MCIEHF C.ErgHF
Jenny completed her MSc in Applied Psychology at Cranfield University's School of Engineering. Following this she took a job as a psychologist/Human Factors (HF) Consultant working at the Centre for Human Sciences, QinetiQ where she carried out a number of projects in the defence and security sectors. She later moved to a defence consultancy to lead the HF Line of Business and provide HF engineering to a number of large scale defence procurement projects. Following a career break to have her children, Jenny moved to the Medical Education Centre at RSFT in 2017 where she supported Simulation Training and the SCReaM Programme.

She now lives in the Transformation team as an HF Specialist working as part of the SCReaM Team,

She is a Chartered Ergonomist registered with the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors and has completed the QI for Leaders Training programme at the Royal Surrey.
Capt David Moss
After graduating from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, David was commissioned as an Officer in the 1st Battalion, The Royal Anglian Regiment, where he held a variety of command and leadership posts in peacetime training and high stress operational environments. Promoted early he was seconded to the Army Air Corps where he flew helicopters and commanded a flight that included flying VIPs and members of the Royal Family before his final post as a training program manager for the whole of the Armed Forces Aircrew training.
Taking these skills with him to the Commercial Aviation environment, David soon became a Crew Resource Management Instructor for Pilots and Cabin Crew and his upgrade to Captain followed soon after. Now in in his second decade of flying and teaching he shares this passion with other industries outside of aviation.
“I believe that learning and developing starts with the individual and builds from there. Life in the Army has taught me so much about people and combined with the CRM used daily whilst flying these transferrable skills can and do make such a difference in other industries.”
Aside from work and teaching, David lives in West Sussex with his two children and can be found running unhealthily long distances on the South Downs.
Capt Simon Lewis
Starting his working career in the city working at Lloyd’s of London, Simon quickly realised that following his father into aviation was where his heart was. There followed a safe and successful commercial flying career spanning three decades as a First Officer and latterly Captain with global experience on a variety of aircraft and is currently flying as a Captain on the Airbus 320. Simon has a deep passion for Human Factors Training and as a qualified Crew Resource Management Trainer, has been training this subject to Pilots, Future Pilots, Cabin Crews and now Medical Professionals for the last 15 years. He is also an active member of the Honourable Company or Air Pilots and the Royal Aeronautical society.
“I feel that the implementation of this training into our aviation environment has been one of the main factors behind the industries long term, excellent safety record and it is very exciting being able to introduce this particular training into other mainstream industries.”
When not teaching or flying Simon can be found at home in rural Dorset with his wife and daughter, their 2 dogs and 5 chickens trying to get some semblance of tune from his electric guitar.
